Offline video playback during internet disruptions
Downloaded files are stored on the device and played locally during temporary internet outages. A connection is required for setup and receiving new changes.
How does WaitCast's offline playback work?
Fully downloaded videos run from device storage, so brief network fluctuations do not interrupt prepared content.
Initial setup, file downloads and receiving each new change still require internet access.
This capability applies to complete, valid files stored on the device. Simply adding media to the schedule does not mean it is ready for offline playback.

Frequently asked questions
Answers to questions that come up when reviewing this capability.
Does WaitCast work without internet access?
Files that have been completely downloaded and prepared for playback run from local storage. Initial sign-in, new video downloads and receiving new changes require an internet connection.
What happens if the internet disconnects during playback?
If local files are ready, they continue playing from device storage. New changes become available when the device reconnects.
Can initial setup also be completed offline?
No. The device needs internet access for sign-in, configuration and the initial content download. Offline playback applies to content that has already been fully downloaded and prepared.
Can a partially downloaded file play too?
Local playback requires a complete, valid file. Before relying on offline mode, finish downloading the scheduled files and check that the device has enough storage.
How much storage is required?
Storage requirements depend on the number, length and quality of scheduled videos. Content size and device capacity are assessed during requirements planning; one fixed capacity will not suit every center.
Can I change the schedule while the device is offline?
You can save changes in the panel, but the device needs a connection to receive them. Until it receives the new version, only content already prepared on the device is available.
